Dismissal Procedure

The safety of your child is of utmost importance for us at LCA. To enable us to protect your child better, the school doors will be locked at 8:30 AM and unlocked at 2:50 PM. If you need to enter the building between those times, you will need to use the entrance at the top of the hill. Please ring the doorbell. Four identification cards will be given to each family. These cards must be filled out and given to anyone who will be picking up your child. If anyone other than the parents will be picking up your child, the identification card along with another form of identification must be presented. This may seem to be burdensome to you, but it is for your child’s protection. Please be ready to present your identification card the first few weeks of school and do not be offended if we ask to see them until we become acquainted with you.

Parents picking up students after 2:50 PM will enter the building and pick up their child at the Daycare door on the side of the building.

Early Dismissals
We want to remind you that when a child is going to be picked up early from school, a note should be sent to school that morning. This will enable the teacher to have the work ready that needs to go home with the student. This will also allow the student to be ready and upstairs in the office so that class time will not be interrupted for the other students. If you must ask someone to pick up your child that does not have an Identification Card, you must call the office or send a note to the teacher giving the name and relationship of the person given permission. If these requirements are not met, the child will not be released until a parent is contacted. This may seem burdensome but it is for your child's protection. Early dismissals are defined as those times when a student must leave the school campus between the hours of 8:30 AM and 2:50 PM. Early dismissals should only be in the event of a doctor's appointment or family emergencies. If the student is away from the classroom for more than sixty (60) minutes, but in attendance at least three (3) hours, the student will receive a half-day absence.
